Summer Service Improvements
BEGINNING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD:
- Bayline: Starting service earlier (6:30 a.m.) Monday - Friday to meet rider need and increase Village Loop Route 14 – Acme connections
- Bayline: will continue to be split into a Meijer Bayline (Meijer to Union Street downtown only - not to Boardman) and an eastside Bayline. Every other east side Bayline will go all the way to Woodland Creek, while the others will loop around Aeropark Dr to return west to give 15 minute frequency on all Baylines between Meijer and CTC Monday - Saturday, and 30 minute frequency to Woodland Creek. 30 minute frequency for Bayline on Sundays.
- City Loop Route 7: Adding a stop at the Cherryland Center Curling Club and integration into the LaFranier Transfer Center
- Village Loop Route 14 – Acme: Adding expanded AM and PM service, PLUS A 12:30 OUTBOUND FROM HALL TO LAFRANIER AND BACK TO TO HALL BY 1:30. Route 14 is also adding an outbound stop at the Cherryland Center Curling Club
- City Loop Route 2 & Village Loop Route 13 – Kingsley:
- The new BATA LaFranier Transfer Center and Park-n-Ride lot is slated to be ready for use starting later this summer, providing an opportunity for increased connections between City Loop Route 2 and Village Loop Route 13 - Kingsley.
- Kingsley riders will have the ability to get into TC before 7:30am and be able to return back to Kingsley later with an additional outbound run at 6:30 p.m.
- Route 13 will also have express runs and increased frequency with hourly service between Kingsley and BATA’s LaFranier Transfer Center throughout the day providing direct connections to downtown Traverse City - including 11:30 and 12:30 outbounds to Kingsley using Route 2.
- The LaFranier Transfer Center will also offer a 40+ spot daily Park-n-Ride lot with buses heading downtown every 30 minutes via Route 2
- Cass Road Transfer Station will no longer be operational.

Route 11 - Leelanau Flex. ALERT: The 10PM return bus from Glen Arbor will not run after Labor Day. The last bus from Glen Arbor until September 27 is 4:30 PM.
Beginning Sept 30, Route 11/Leelanau Flex will depart Hall Street at 7:20am, depart Glen Arbor at 8:30am, depart Hall Street at 2:00pm, and depart Glen Arbor at 3:00pm. Download the full timetables here.
Veterans Drive Reconstruct Monday, July 22 - Mid October.
Alert: The City of Traverse City will begin the Veterans Drive Reconstruction Project on Monday, July 22, 2024. The project limits will be on Veterans Drive between Fourteenth Street and the City limits (just south of Fairlane Drive), and is anticipated to be complete in mid-October. BATA's Route 1 will detour into Fitzhugh Drive/Hillview/Bayhill between the GT Mall and Hall Street using Highway 31, and continue to service the GT Crossings/GT Mall/Albany St. Fire Station and all stops between Fourteenth Street and downtown but will avoid the construction on Veterans Drive. BATA will update this page and send alerts with specific schedule details. Stops on Veterans Drive between Albany Street and Fourteenth Street will be closed during construction.
2024 Grandview Parkway Construction
Service Alert: MDOT Phase 2 construction on Grand View Parkway is active. Expect some delays on adjacent roadways.
The following BATA routes and services will be impacted during the project:
- Bayline (FREE FARE and Free Parking at Park-n-Ride lots)
- Village Loop Route 14 - Airport/Acme (FREE FARE and free parking at the MDOT/Acme Meijer Park-n-Ride Lot)
WHERE IS MY BUS?? Find your bus using the Transit App, Apple Maps, or Google Maps Transit. Sometimes there is a lag time between service changes and Google Maps/Apple Maps/Transit App integration. You may also visit www.batabustracker.com to follow the GPS tracker on your bus as it moves along the route to your stop - this tracker is available immediately when any change is made to our service.
Service Alert:
- E. Front Street at Barlow shelter westbound will be closed. Riders can catch Bayline and Route 14 towards downtown/Hall Street directly in front of the Hagerty Center at the roundabout.
- E. Front Street at Wellington eastbound and westbound stops will be closed until work is complete at the Railroad intersection sometime in August.
- The Bayline will continue to operate with a westbound Meijer loop and an eastbound Woodland Creek loop throughout the entirety of the construction project.
- Village Loop Route 14 – Acme will remain free to ride throughout the Grandview Construction project.
The free Bayline runs seven days a week from 7am–10pm Monday - Saturday (with ~20 minute frequency M-F and up to 30 minute frequency on Saturdays) & 9am - 9pm Sunday (~40 minute frequency).
Village Loop Route 14 Impacts
- Village Loop 14 will be fare-free for the duration MDOT Grand View Parkway construction so that riders have more options.
- The westbound Barlow shelter is closed, riders can catch that bus directly in front of the Hagerty Center.
All routes impacted by road construction plan to return to their normal route paths and service levels following the completion of the project. Some of the route path detours may be modified during the road work based on traffic impacts. If you have questions call BATA Customer Service at 231.941.2324.
