BATA is participating in a pilot program with the Michigan Department of Transportation to offer a special reduced fare designation (sticker) to seniors and people with disabilities so they can receive reduced fare almost anywhere they travel in Michigan. To receive a Universal Reduced Fare Card sticker simply bring your BATA reduced fare card to BATA's Hall Street Transfer Station and ask the transfer station attendant for a Universal Reduced Fare Card Sticker. More details about the program are below and on MDOT's website.

What is it?

The Universal Reduced Fare Card is a special card offered free of charge that allows seniors and people with disabilities to use participating transit providers throughout the state. They can receive the provider’s reduced fare without completing additional applications or paperwork.

EZ Fare begins September of 2026!  This will enable account holders to add funds remotely, cancel lost cards, use mobile phones for payment, and never pay more than $5 per day/$20 per week/$40 per month for unlimited City & Village Fixed Loop rides (50% discount applies for reduced fare riders).  Beginning later in the fall 2026, riders can tap a credit card as they board the bus to pay instead of looking for cash.  EZ Fare account holders may also add cash to their accounts at Hall Street, LaFranier, and at area stores such as Dollar General, 7-Eleven, Speedway, CVS, Family Dollar, and more!
