BATA buses provide convenient Cherry Fest travel

TRAVERSE CITY - The Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) has extended hours for its recently enhanced fixed routes during the National Cherry Festival. BATA's transfer station at 115 Hall St. offers convenient access at the west edge of the festival.

Regular Monday-Friday service includes fixed routes with 117 stops in the greater Traverse City area picking up at 30-minute intervals and a fixed loop with 14 stops encircling the city. Weekdays during the festival, extended service will begin at 5:40 pm at 60-minute intervals with the last bus leaving the Hall St. transfer station at 11:40 pm. Weekend service on July 2, 3, and 9 will run at 60-minute intervals beginning at 8:10 am with the final Hall St. departure at 11:40 pm.

On July 4, BATA will also extend the hours of its Leelanau and Grand Traverse County Village Connector routes and dial-a-ride zone service offering several trips daily to and from the heart of festival activities.
