  • Competitive Wage: Starting wage $21.87 to $25.50 an hour. Annual driver salary of up to $51,000 or $22.98 an hour. The average driver's salary is $41,234. Annual wage increases.

Defined Benefit Retirement Plan

As a MERS Defined Benefit Plan member, you join nearly 90,000 public sector employees across the state. With BATA you will be fully vested after 6 six years of employment. Enjoy the benefit of a 2.25% benefit multiplier (one of the highest in Northern Michigan).

 

Medical/Prescription Insurance

We offer two rich Medical/Prescription benefit plans through Priority Health with employer paid premiums on our HSA plan, and shared employer and employee premiums on our traditional plan. Eligible employees who have other Medical Insurance may waive this coverage and receive an opt out payment.

 

Health Flexible Spending Account

Employees may save money by making pre-tax contributions to a Health Flexible Spending Account to be used for eligible medical expenses incurred by the employee and their dependents.

 

Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

We provide policies of $10,000 in Basic Life Insurance. Eligible employees may elect additional life insurance up to $250,000.

 

Short-Term Disability

Employees may elect short-term disability. Eligible employees experiencing a disability from a covered injury, sickness or pregnancy may receive short term income protection beginning on the 30th day of disability and may continue up until the 180th day.

 

Long-Term Disability

Employees may elect long-term disability for covered absences of more than 6 months and may continue until the employee is no longer disabled, reaches age 70, or retires.

 

Paid Time Off

Eligible employees in their first year could accrue up to 120 hours of PTO.

 

Tuition Reimbursement

BATA offers reimbursement for continuing education courses at approved institutions of learning for classes which are related to the employee's job.
